The ironically named Party for Freedom is not only described as an extremist 'anti-Islam' party, but is lead by the world's most notorious Islamaphobe; Mr. Geert Wilders. Wilders not only wrote the anti-Islam film 'Fitna,' but has also openly stated, 'I hate Islam'. His views and statements regarding The Holy Prophet s.a.w. are of such an offensive nature that this site considered them unpublishable.
Founded only in 2005, by 2006 The Party for Freedom (PFF) had won 9 seats out of 150 in the Dutch national parliament. It's progress continued in 2009 when it won 4 out of 25 positions allocated to the Netherlands by the European Parliment.Worryingly, in the build up to the 2010 general elections some polls considered PFF to be the most popular party amongst the electorate. Eventually, Wilders' followers gained 15% of the vote, which translated to a record 24 seats in the national parliament and firmly established PFF as the third largest party in Netherlands. More worryingly still for the 6% or so of the Dutch population who call themselves Muslims, as no party had gained a majority in the election, Wilders was left as an effective 'Kingmaker'. He chose Mark Rutte to be the new Prime Minister of the country, on the condition that Rutte and his party adopted various policies backed by Wilders, including the ban on the Islamic face veil. Rutte assumed office on the 14th of October 2010 and Wilders was left in a remarkably high profile and powerful position, having gained an international platform from which to spread his Islamaphobic vitriol.
In the midst of Wilders' demented rage, one reconciliatory voice of reason spoke up for the people of the Netherlands who value tolerance: Queen Beatrix, the nation's head of state. She advised the people to show 'respect for minorities'. Wilders responded to her words by describing them as 'multi-culti nonsense' and advising her to stick to cutting ribbons.
In October 2011, the Khalifa of Islam and Supreme Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad toured the Netherlands. Speaking in that country a year to the day that the Wilders-backed Rutte government assumed office, the Khalifa addressed Wilders directly, with the following warning:
It is Holland alone where that unfortunate person lives who, in order to gain popularity in politics, is continuing making brazen attacks and ridiculing and deriding the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w and who is increasing in his hostility and opposition against Islam. His animosity against Islam has gone to the extent that when he speaks against Islam he froths at the mouth. Just recently when a Muslim organisation strongly condemned certain terrorist attacks, this unjust person, whose name is Geert Wilders, proclaimed that “This was not sufficient. We will not rest and nor be satisfied until you say that the religion of Islam itself is such that it gives teachings of extremism and terrorism; it is false and it is not from God and it should be effaced entirely from the Earth.”
Hence, this is his intention and he says “We are not ready to accept any apology until this occurs.” We therefore need to convey this message: “O oppressive person! Listen carefully; you and your party and every single person like you will perish, however Islam and the Holy Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. are destined to remain until the end of time and they will remain until the last day. And no power of the world, no matter how Pharaoh-like or how significant their opposition to Islam is, can efface Islam from this world. Perhaps these politicians who are fierce opponents of Islam may go on winning seats in the government. However, you should inform the world that the acts of this person will be the means of Allah destroying him.
We hold neither power nor will we utilise any worldly power or weapon, but those the prayers of those whose hearts are wounded shake the threshold of the Divine. And here the matter relates to the great beloved one of Allah the Almighty. More than our prayers, Allah’s honour will itself come into play such that even the particles of such obnoxious and obscene people will not be found.
There are many people in Holland who are righteous and who have sincere thoughts. They rebuff and reject the statements of this unfortunate and immoral person.Therefore, search for these sincere and righteous people and convey to them the beautiful teachings of Islam. Search in the world for those people who want to establish peace, love and brotherhood.
Here I will also say that pray for the Queen of Holland, because there is a section of the people who are against the Queen. And they are against the Queen because the Queen condemns all the oppressive actions against the Muslims and prevents it. Considering Muslims as citizens of the nation, the Queen inculcates that the sentiments of Muslims should be taken care of and their rights protected. And Muslims have been commanded that when someone is kind to you, respond to them with kindness. Therefore, also pray for the Queen, that all the schemes against her come to naught and fail and that Allah the Almighty also opens her heart. Similarly, may Allah the Almighty open the hearts of the people of this country that they come to understand the beautiful teachings of Islam. (Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Friday, October 14th 2011)
Wilders took a small line of the speech above out of context and sent it to the national Interior Ministry, claiming it incited violence against his person. Further, he called for action to be taken against the Khalifa and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. By the end of November, the results of the Interior Ministry's investigation into the affair were complete and they publicly responded to Wilders' correspondence. Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad described their response:
I addressed a politician, who is a member of parliament and a party leader, whose name is Geert Wilders. I gave him this message in the Friday Sermon that you people, against Islam and the Holy Prophet s.a.w, are exceeding in your disrespect and the utilisation of vile and profane language. You have exceeded all limits of enmity. Desist from this or else fear God’s chastisement, which comes unannounced, which then manifests at an appointed time and destroys people like you. God most certainly possesses the power to seize persons like you.
I also said that we have no worldly power. We can only challenge people like you through our prayers. When the In-charge of the Press Section came to me with this press statement for the press release that was prepared based on a summary of this Friday Sermon, he had written all of the other matters but he had not written this particular sentence (regarding the fact that the challenge to Wilders by the Ahmadiyya Community will only be through prayers). I then said to him that most certainly add this sentence that we have no worldly powers.
This is exactly what I said, that you and everyone like you is destroyed, and this is the reality. When we contest our opponents and those who hold enmity towards us, we do it either through logical reasons, or most of all, we do this through our prayers.
This particular press release was also read by the Dutch politician, Geert Wilders. He then wrote a letter to his government in which he posed certain questions to the Home Minister. When this was mentioned in the press, the Jama’at in Holland wrote to me that Wilders had posed questions in this manner. It seemed as if the Holland Jama’at was quite worried.
I responded to them, that if the Home Office asks questions of you then there is no need to be fearful and nor do you need to be apprehensive. Fully explain your stance. The foundation for this was laid by that politician who is carrying out inappropriate acts and who has produced erroneous films regarding the Holy Prophet s.a.w. He has utilised very harsh language and he has defamed Islam. We responded to that and what we said was, that Allah the Almighty is One, and He upholds the honour of His prophet. He can seize persons who disrespect His prophets, so therefore be fearful of God.
In terms of the questions that Wilders posed, the government responded to them after a few days, which was also published in the newspapers. A question by Wilders, quoting my name and writing to the Minister, was “Mirza Masroor Ahmad has said that ‘Listen carefully, you, your party and every other person like you will ultimately be destroyed’”. Interpreting this quote himself he said, “What measures does the Interior Minister plan to take against this Islamic organisation calling for violence?”
The Interior Minister replied, “According to the press release, Mirza Masroor Ahmad said that such peoples and groups are not destroyed by disorder or violence or any other secular activities, but rather only through prayer. I do not see anything in this statement that incites disorder or violence or could be a cause for it. For this reason I see no reason whatsoever to take measures against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.”
Hence, this was his reply. This, therefore, is the justice displayed by these people. This politician is a party leader, a member of parliament and then, also of the same religion as them, yet when he poses a question the response he is given is fair and also just. I have heard that now Wilders is researching further into the Jama’at to try and extract negative points. However much these people desire, they can make efforts. This is a Divine Jama’at and this Jama’at always says what is true and what is based on facts. This is exactly what they will always find within the Jama’at. Meanwhile, Wilders continued with the publication of his book, 'Islam's war against the West and Me'. More controversy followed in April 2012, whenWilders broke off his coalition with the Rutte government over a dispute regarding the country's annual budget. Rutte's government quietly dropped the policies that- had they continued with Wilders' coalition- would have become national law. These included the policy of banning the Islamic face veil.
Due to the collapse of the coalition, the Netherlands have been forced to hold an early general election which will take place in two weeks time on the 12th of September 2012. Political analysts, Dutch Muslims and indeed the wider world await with interest to see if Wilders can maintain the popularity that lead to him gaining 24 seats in the previous election. *END OF ARTICLE*
An Ahmadi's Opinion on the Above
Anti-Ahmadiyya groups often malign the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for having praised Queen Victoria when she ruled over British India. However, what they fail to mention and recognise is that the praise the founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, gave to Queen Victoria was due to her support of the principle of freedom of religion and due to her governments justice system being fair to people of all religious backgrounds. Just decades earlier, India had been ruled by Sikh tyrants who overthrew mosques and persecuted the Muslims in horrible ways.
In much the same way, in the modern age we see the Khalifa of Islam Ahmadiyya, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad praise figures such as Queen Beatrice of Netherlands. We can imagine that one day in the future the anti-Ahmadis will twist this praise in a most malicious and vindictive manner. However, as can be seen from the quotes above, the truth is that the praise was simply for her joining in defence of the rights of Muslims. Exactly like in the time of Victoria, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad praised the Queen for defending the rights of Muslims who have rejected him!
The praise Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad bestowed on Victoria and the praise Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad today bestows on Beatrix merely reflect the love these two men of God have had for the Muslim Ummah, regardless of sect or doctrinal differences.
Furthermore, often the anti-Ahmadis claim that Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's harsh language against the opponents of Islam such as the Christian leader Atham or the Hindu leader Lekh Ram were unjustified. However, they fail to recognise that his language was exactly the same as the language employed by Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad above against the Islamaphobic leader Geert Wilders and both of these instances merely reflect the determination of these people to defend the honour of Islam. Perhaps anti-Ahmadis should merely admit that they have no care for the honour of Islam and would prefer to see a world in which cowardly religious leaders embrace figures such as Wilders, whilst criticising fair-minded Queens and tarnishing the name and reputation of Islam as their own anti-Ahmadiyya leaders have done.
