I shall apologise in advance to anyone who may find my comments a bit unfair this week. I am taking advantage of my anonymity! However Ijtema season is upon us, and I can’t wait. I love going to the Lajna Ijtema and seeing all the new resources, plans, tarbiyatti measures and organisation that goes on, not forgetting the address of the Sadr or other National Amla members. Usually you meet relatives from around the country and old friends you have not been able to see in a while. The rest, (of course apart from Namaz and lunch) for me, is mostly sitting snacking whilst listening to the competitions ! The Nasirat are really cute though, wearing white uniforms and trying so hard in their separate hall and listening so solemnly to our Sadr Sahiba when she comes to see them. Then the best part of all, if we are lucky enough, insh’Allah, is to listen to the address of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V. You can almost feel the nervous excitement n the Lajna hall whilst we are waiting to see him and Begum Sahiba.
Now of course, I have never been to the Ansarullah or Khuddam ul Ahmadiyya Ijtemas. But I should like to share the experience of a close family member and see what the readers think, is this just my family or is this the reality? Are the Khuddam Ijtemas totally different to ours? It all goes back to a couple of years ago when a close family member went off with the local khuddam to attend the Ijtema. To show an interest in what the kids were up to, an elder in the family rang one of the teenage boys over the two days of the Ijtema. The various conversations went something like this.
“Assalam Alaikum. Did you get there OK, son?”
“Yes, thanks, I am just getting ready to play football now.”
Later on in the day.
“How’s it going, not too cold or anything?”
“It is a bit cold but I have just been having an afternoon nap, catching up on my sleep. I am off to join our team for Tug of War now.”
Next morning.
“How was the night, son?”
“Not bad, we had a great BBQ last night and our team was runners up in the Tug of War. We are now in the footie finals. But I can’t talk now; I am going for toilet cleaning duty”
